Rockhill Tenants Collective

Residents of the Rockhill apartments in Montreal

Several broken or worn-out elements in the lobby

Severity:
Important - greatly affects quality of life
Status:
Under review - the administration must study the problem to find a resolution
Problem Description:

Torn and faded cushions

Marks

Non-functional fireplace

Notice stuck with a very big tape on the door window

Very dusty carpet

Equipment with no casing

Garbage can missing a lid

Service panel open and dented in the exit hallway

Drop-off box for Renaissance that is never closed

Resolution Criteria:

Have an impression of quality when entering the building. The lobby gives the impression of a low-end building

Proposals:
  • Make sure to have a clean carpet when entering
  • Move the renaissance box to the right of the elevators next to the bike room
  • Replace the sofa and table
  • Invest in a trash can that closes
  • Do not leave service doors open and damaged
  • Do not expose the electronics of sensors
  • Have a place for messages, do not stick them on the glass with tape like a condemned building
Next steps:

The management is working on a renovation plan for all the building lobbies. The goal is to finalize the plans to implement them in 2024. The management will confirm the plans to us once they are established.

Follow-ups

The lobby of Building B, in comparison to that of A, deserves more thorough care.

The Property Manager will come to assess it personally and make the necessary changes for improvement and beautification.

Next meeting

Monday 9th of September 2024 at 7 PM

In the hall of building C

(next to the stores)

The Collective

Affected by the deterioration of the Rockhill Apartments in Montreal, some tenants began meeting in July 2023 to consider ways to address the situation.

From these meetings emerged the Rockhill Tenants Collective, a spontaneous group dedicated to upholding the rights of residents and the heritage value of this once upscale and avant-garde complex.
