Rockhill Tenants Collective

Residents of the Rockhill apartments in Montreal

RTC/Minto meeting - February 2024

The RTC met with Rockhill's administration on February 21, 2024.

The following points were discussed:

  • The administration announces a steep rent increase of 5.95% for renewals on June 1 and July 1. See details.
  • The RTC revisits the intolerable problem of billing errors and legal notices without any action plan established by the administration. See details.
  • The RTC asks for explanations for the broken equipment that has been lying around for months and an appearance of laxity See details
  • Damage to poles and ground caused by snow removal should justify the contractor's dismissal, but the administration hesitates See details
  • The removal of visitor parking in front of building B is worsened by a snow removal tractor that occupies two spots. The RTC suggests that it might be possible for tenants to get a rent reduction as for the pool and that they should move the tractor elsewhere. See details
  • Negotiations with the administration lack organization. The administration says it will make improvements See details
  • The RTC again expresses its concern about alarm boxes that remain open for months with visible wires coming out of the box. See details
  • The RTC wants to understand why the administration does not respond to emails regarding problems. It seems to be a problem of insufficient staff to provide adequate service. See details

The Collective

Affected by the deterioration of the Rockhill Apartments in Montreal, some tenants began meeting in July 2023 to consider ways to address the situation.

From these meetings emerged the Rockhill Tenants Collective, a spontaneous group dedicated to upholding the rights of residents and the heritage value of this once upscale and avant-garde complex.
